Suggest ways to rehabilitate a paedophile?

Think about it. A pedophile is primarily sexuallly attracted to children. I think that most realistic, thinking people, realize that primary sexual attraction is determined somtime long before we are aware. Rehabilitating pedophiles is like rehabilitating gays, lesbians or any other sexual preference. It is just not possible.
I am heterosexual, and dont' think that any treatment available would convert me to another sexual preference.
There are programs for pedophiles and they are mostly in penal institutions. I'm quite sure that they would tell you that they do not offer cures.
I think that pedophiles that offend against children deserve to be locked away. I also think that those who don't offend deserve humane treatment.

That's a good question. All the evidence shows that pedophiles are very likely to re-offend after being released. Unfortunately, in our prison system, there are very few programs to actually rehabilitate or help criminals. Most of the time they just sit in jail until they are released. But you can see by many of the answers, people don't really care if our prisons rehabilitate criminals. Most people just say "lock 'em up for life, so I don't have to deal with them."

But I don't know of any good ways to rehabilitate them.

Only one person is on the right track, the rest of the posters are simply speaking from emotion without having actually looked at any evidence.

There is a sex offenders unit where I am planning to work one day, it has a 90+% success rate in helping sex offenders to not reoffend.

There are programs that do work in helping to rehabilitate sex offenders. Is it a cure? No, these people have to make a choice to not reoffend, but once they have, these programs can help them deal with that battle.

At the heart of the battle, you have to deal with the issues that cause these people to offend. Thats done in different ways, group therapy, role-playing (dramatherapy), individual counselling and it must be kept up.

Experts are divided on whether pedophiles can be successfully rehabilitated. They can, however, acknowledge their behavior and harm it causes their victims. They can acknowledge that they have chosen to act on these impulses and as such they are untrustworthy around children. Therefore, they can make decisions to remove themselves from circumstances in which they would eb around children, and never ever be alone with a child. They can continue treatment after incarceration and manage - not cure - their predilictions.

They cannot be rehabilitated, no one with a criminal sexual history cannot be rehabilitated. They need to be watched and monitored, or if possible sent to an island out in a shark infested area, and there they can sexually violate each other, all they want. But my other idea has to do with a small lead, or copper projectile..

I do not think rehabilitation is possible. A true paedophile is what he is SICK. It is not his fault he is that way, but he can serve no purpose with normal human beings.

As a child victim, I would totally agree with the castration method. Anyone who is sick enough to prey on children deserves much worse than that.

there aren't any ways to rebabilitate a pedophile. they should all just get released into the general population in prison so the top of the food chain can make the bottom feeder pedophiles disappear.

As a victim of childhood abuse I know the " Cure" !

4 Frontal Lobotomy

After that they will be fit to rejoin the rest of us !
