Many antisepresants actually cause people to have a reduced sex drive. However, there are those that do not. If they are working (the antidepressant) at alleviating the depression, that in and of itself, could cause someones sex drive to become normal again or even more so. When you are happy and feel good, it is normal to have a healthy sexual appetite, while depression can cause it to disappear sometimes.

It's not normal. I'm not saying you have to go act like a whore or anything like that. You have morals, good for you but part of being a 21 year old male is to have a sex drive, at least a little bit. See a doctor about it, seriously.

Low sex drive, low motivation and lack of interest in those things that usually interest someone are cardinal symptoms of depression. As depression lifts things such as sex drive tend to return. A reduction in sex drive on antidepressants is a side effect and like most side effects is only suffered by a minority of those taking a drug.

Your situation may be different. Antidepressants can precipitate mania in certain suseptible individuals and inappropriate sexual appetite and activity can be a symptom of mania. Other symptoms that you may see may include racing thoughts, rapid speech, decreased need for sleep. If you are seeing these other symptoms it is possibly mania and your partner should probably see his prescriber.

Hope that this is helpful

Wow this is the question I've always been afraid to ask! Because I've been on a really high dose of Zoloft for about a year (around 175 mg) and my sex drive is insane... my boyfriend is even blown away, and gets kinda tired of me always being so antsy for it. Now that's sad when the GUY thinks you're too horny....

Feel blessed. Usually it's the other way around. You have no sex drive at all.
You are referring to 'he'. Isn't this typical for most men, wanting sex more than once a day? lol
Don't complain girl, give him what he wants.
Merry Christmas

Sure. Good for him! It's when he stops wanting it that you should start worrying!
