Sure, or any number of illnesses to the eye. They spend a lot of time on the level of dirt, sand, soot and anyone who pets them pets their head and eye area - so they can be susceptible to eye problems. Having said that, I only ever knew 3 cat in the many cats I have come into contact with that had any kind of eye problem. One was temporary (a course of antibiotic ointment fixed him up in a week), another seemed to have injured the eye and it weeped terribly unless it got medicine each day - the last had a weepy eye in warm weather and no sign of it in cold weather (so we all assumed it was allergies). The vet can give you medicine often times for eye problems and it is remarkably easy to give a cat eye medicine (compared to pills, say).

Peace!

Absolutely, cats can get pinkeye from playing with each other. Ive nursed three cat's and kittens through it. They can get infections from garden variety staph like humans, feline herpes, chlamydia or viruses. The key is that just like when humans get pink eye kitties hurt and need to be taken to the vet for an exam and medications.

Conjunctivitis is very treatable with medication (eye drops or onitment), good luck.

In California they had a cat/bobcat cross that someone decided to keep breeding -- the tabby coat and stubby tail plus wider cheeks is typical of it. The breed is going for recognition by all the cat show groups now. Google the term Pixibob, this is what the breed is called. Many of them are polydactyl also, and have the long legs, ear tufts, short bodies and high rumps.

Yes, it is conjunctivitis (inflamation of the conjunctia of the eye). Sometimes it can be cleared up with medication, sometimes it is from the feline herpes virus and may be a recurring problem throughout their lives.
