www.starvedartists.com is a great web site for selling your photos. You can post there, set a price, get reviews and see others work. Also - Writer's Digest puts out a book called Photographers Market. Amazon should carry it, or Writer's Digest has a website - just Google.

There are books that are for things like that with publishers. It's called artist's market or something. Also look on postcards and calendars at the manufacturer and go to their website.
If it is art type stuff. put them on Ebay. I've sold a few things on Ebay, but if you are really into it you can do more (I never gave it a lot of time.)

Your at an art show and there are some photographers setup. What are you gonna buy? Now what would 3 of your friends purchase? This is a big consideration.
Art Fairs
Library if they allow locals to setup
If you do some real artistic shots not run of the mill than I would suggest galleries, ebay and art auctions.
I have done all with my best results at auction.

Again your dealing with your "family", but there is some truth to their words. Depending on how and where you want to sell them, you'll need to determine what type of market your looking for. Often simply displaying your images in contests, and galleries, can get you some notoriety. Once you have established yourself, let persons locate you, then there shouldn't be an issue of "selling them".

I would start with a stand on the side of the road but you can also sell them on eBay. My family sells photography by just showing them and auctioning them off to people they know.

Get lots of photography books from the library and look at the pictures. Learn to "see" as if you had a camera always with you. Actually, if you want to sell your art, you need to always have your camera with you. Then take lots of pictures and learn self criticism. Learn "the rule of thirds" but, don't be afraid to break the rules. Take close ups, landscapes and people. Take pictures from ground level - on your belly. Take some from ladders and high places. Stop reading this and take more pictures first!
