You can check on the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ as they are who sets the rules and regulations on what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you, but I believe that an under wire in your bra is not a problem. I travel quite a bit and have never had an issue.

Have a great flight!

I've worn an underwire bra through airport security for the past 15 years...and it has never set off the detecters. However if it does, then you will be frisked by a female TSA agent (not in an invasive manner--I've been through it and it was nothing). So...if the fear of another person patting you with the back of their hand to ensure that you don't have a knife tucked in between the girls isn't that great...I say go for it.

My best friend set off the detectors at Oklahoma City airport with her underwire bra! It depends on the composition of the under-"wire". As I understand it, companies are experimenting with other, more comfortable, alternatives to the old metal wire, but that didn't prevent my friend from getting a pat down that should have at least had an offer of dinner attached!

Just to be safe, I wore a soft-cup the last time I flew!

I wear underwires and have not had any problem this past year. I have flown numerous times, including 4 times in the last 2 weeks, both internationally and domestically. No worries!

That's not true. My wife wears one all the time. And a number of the women that I have traveled with (I suspect) are wearing them. And they do not trigger the security arch. They have decreased the sensitivity of the arches, so as not to pick up such things as that, plus rings, watches, etc. There was a time that it picked up the foil from my little package of Certs in my pocket.
My routine is to empty the change out of my pockets, remove my belt and shoes, and of course, cell phone.
If you have a thicker necklace, or several bracelets, I would probably remove those.

Have a safe trip and God Bless.

I think all my bras are underwire and I've never alarmed. go to http://www.tsa.gov for the real list of what you can and can't bring on.
