yes women have rights but Just like men have a purpose so do woman. your bible has complete instruction. biggest of all woman has a bad habit of putting herself above man. we are not to do this. this is not what we are created for.

yes Aza, this is what i was looking for recognizing that being equal to man does not make us the same. it is our job as woman to uplift our husbands and keep thier feet on the right path. nowhere did i say let your husband abuse you or he is better than you. i merely said all woman and men have a purpose. and the way things are now is not how it is supposed to be.

papavero you got it you are right. that is what is intended. yes it is true that man is to look at us as equals as thier help meet. but that does not mean men are supposed to pass over the reigns and let women run things.

Wow,
You really got a lot of strong opinions on this topic. It looks like you really hit a nerve.

To answer your question, you must look at Romans 8: 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

You are trying to apply God's standard to the world when that is impossible. Look at all of the hostile answers towards your (God's) opinion. And look at all of the ratings each answer gets.

If people can't humble themselves to submit to God, do you really think they will submit themselves to another human being? It's not going to happen. The foolish pride blinds people to truth. What's really sad is that women left their natural role in the world to be more like men. There is nobody more capable to raise children than their mother. There is nobody more qualified to do that job and there is nobody I'd rather have to raise my children than their mother. However, the deceit of society has lead women to believe that it is demeaning to be a housewife.
When in fact, it's the absolute most important job in the entire world. It's no surprise that children are out of control these days. Parents aren't raising them anymore but TV and babysitters are. Is it any surprise that they're all acting like little Bart Simpsons? Do you think that they will get the same love from babysitters as they would from their natural mothers?

The only reason people can give for not following this standard is that it's "modern times".
Well, in case people haven't noticed, these modern times are chaotic and much less civilized than when God's standards ruled the world.
You'd think that people would figure it out, but they don't because preaching of the cross is foolishness to them.

Only a true Christian household will be able to apply this standard in their home. The world is going to be the world. Leave them alone. They will suffer for their pride.

Remember the Bible was written in a different cultural time. Its also in the Bible that only prostitutes wore short hair and good women covered their long hair. Times change. There are also stories in the Bible where women were given divine authority: Ex. Esther, Deborah, Ruth. Men deserve respect and I stayed at home to keep our preschoolers, but we are equals and neither of our jobs were greater than the other.

every human has basic freedoms. and if you try taking away those freedoms they will attack and they have every right to as the British philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft stated in the age of enlightenment "if men are born free then why are women not" everyone is desirving of a chose. If you don't want to be independent then go ahead you will probably an excellent wife one day, but don't stop anyone from the chose (except blindcrosses)

I am not a second class citizen or person. I have every right to voice my opinion. This is not the Stone Age. Compromise keeps a marriage together. I would not let any man lead this household any more than I would stone my neighbor for not obeying the Sabbath. You have got to be kidding.

Ephesians 5:28-31 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.

Sounds like we are pretty equal in the eyes of Our Lord.

God bless and Merry Christmas.

I am slave to no one, man, woman or child. Most especially not to your non-existent God and the absolutely unbelievable words of fiction that are written in the book that Christians believe is proof of a God.

My man has his rightful place as I do with him. We stand together at each other's sides!

God did not set these rules, the men who wrote the bible did. It was part of their culture. Look to the example of Jesus and how he treated women. He was quite liberated for his time. So all of this idea that we should be second class doormats is a bunch of crap! Daddy's girl, maybe it is time for you to grow up and take responsibility for yourself. Same for the dumb blond. And for Aza, I woud guess you are going to say that woman's special gift is taking care of you and your damn children and cleaning, cooking and all of the things a house elf should be doing. Will be a cold day in hell, brother!!! Now I am going to ask a question. Look for it.

The Bible is a collection of ancient writings, written mostly by men from the perspective of male-dominated societies of the time. We've grown up since then. Women needn't be slaves anymore. They don't exist just to serve or please men, and now that women are ubiquitous in the workplace, neither do they have to rely on men to provide for them. Women have their own thoughts, dreams, desires, and lives. My wife and I are equal partners in our marriage, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

You are not a rib; you are a full-fledged human being, equal to men in dignity and rights.

first of all god didn't write the bible people did second you should really give god more credit then that he would never make one gender superior then the other although a woman should stick by her man just as a man should stick by his woman

I as a male wear the pants in my house. Why just yesterday my wife as she was going out the door to do some shopping said to me: " While I'm gone I want you to do the dishes and then vacuum the living room". So I thought to myself.....Hey I'm the man here, I wear the pants in this house. So I made a decision and stuck to it. I vacuumed the living room and then I did the dishes. I'm king in my castle.
