Hello from Toronto: Ok, good question, now that all depends on you!!

First of all IF you have an International drivers license, It is only a temporary license and you will have to start all over again if you want to become a citizen of Canada.
Now a G1 is a written test from The Government that you have to pass. It really is all about the signs on the road of Canada. Once you pass this test you can immediately start to drive BUT not in the evenings from 12 midnight to
5 in the morning. It will take you the least around 8 months for your G2 test.

Then when you do your G2 test- It is a driving test from the Government of Canada and if you pass ,then you can drive in the evenings and day time as well. Within one year later you can go and get your regular G license.

G license is another test from the Government of Canada to see if you can drive on the freeways. Once you pass that test you don't have to worry about any other test from Canada untill you get to be 80 years old. LOL!!

I hope I explained for you
Good Luck
from Toronto

There is no G3, it's just called "G".

At 16 you can take the written test for your G1. After 8 months (if you do driver's training classes) you can take the road test for your G2. With no driver's training you have to wait one year.

After you get your G2, you have to wait at least 12 months before you can do your road test to get your G. If you wait more than 5 years to try for your G, you have to start all over again at doing the written test for your G1.

You may be looking up to 3 years to go from a G1-G2-G, that will almost be cut in half if you get professional driving lessons.
