Find a good pedicurist who knows how to wield a scraping tool or stop wearing heels. It is the price we pay, unfortunately....

You can't prevent them. Best way to tackle this is to use a pumice stone everytime you shower. By doing this everyday, it prevents dry hard skin forming and your not letting it build up. I used to wear vaseline on my heels and balls of my feet when wearing pumps, but the sheer uncomfortableness wasn't worth it! It causes your feet to slip around inside the shoe. There is also a product called party feet - silicone pads you can buy at shoe stores that sit in your shoes - but I didn't find them overly effective. Hope this helped?

The obvious answer is don't wear heals every day and go barefoot more !
Calluses form where the skin is subjected to wear / friction. This would indicate that your shoes don't fit properly.
Also remember that our feet were not designed to wear shoes. Shoes are a relatively recent invention and prevent us from walking properly.

Well, the best way to prevent callises is to use a pumice stone, and to use padding. dr. scholls has this new foot cushion designed specifically for high heelled shoes and they cost about $9, but they are the bes thing since high heels.

Try getting some insoles or padding for your feet.
Use a pumice stone or a scrub to gently wear away the dead skin. You have to be patient, but it'll help often your skin.
Wear sneakers whenever possible, ie on your commute to and from work, on your break, etc.
