It probably a very dumb question, but I honestly don't know that answer.

No. Americans spell it as chiles. Most of the world spells it as "chillies" or "chillis". I am referring to the spice of course.

Most chilis come from places other than Chile. A majority of chil peppers either come from the southwestern part of the United States and from Mexico and or southeast Aisa as well.

No, they come from many otehr places in the world including Chile.
But, anyone can grow them.

Hatch, NM is the self proclaimed chili capital of the US.
But you can grow them almost anywhere.

I believe so. Hence the name. Turkeys come from turkey, brazil nuts come from brazil, cheddar cheese comes from cheddar, kendal mint cake comes from Kendal
