As a non-human tragedy, I remember around 1953 when Myxomatosis (a horrible man made disease to kill rabbits) came to Ireland. We saw many suffering animals all skin and bone and blind, many times, but one day I lost count at the sight of about 1,000 suffering animals along the road. I have seen many horrible real life things in my life but quite honestly, this takes some beating. You see, before the disease, we would have rabbit maybe three times a week for meat.............

I came upon an overturned semi on my way out of Death Valley. Debris was all over the road and the truck was still creaking from settling. The driver was still inside.

You never expect to be the one to come upon something like that. It was pretty horrible.

My sister laying on a hospital bed all covered in blood. It was right after her car accident and they didn't know if she'd live or die but she was stable and in the emergency room. She was unconcious in her hospital bed and the doctors and nurses wanted to give us a chance to say goodbye just in case.

I think I almost passed out. I know my mother did and was caught before she hit the ground by my stepdad.
