i have this one question. when u format a story, can the same character talk serveral times in the same paragraph? here let me give u an example:

"Stop ur whining!" shouted Mom. Jimmy shut up quite quickly. He looked up with his adorable face and stared. Mom put her hands on her hips and sighed. "fine, u can have a cookie." she grumbled.

is that the right format?

um... here is my actual peice of writing, is it okay?

“Ouch! Get off me now you foul creature!” Gump shouted, shaking his leg vigorously. A young puppy, brown and white, with large amber, almond shaped eyes, backed away from him. “Get lost,” he mumbled, prodding it with a stick. The puppy winced but did not go away. “Don’t ya belong to someone?” he asked, poking the poor animal even harder now. The puppy said nothing, but hung her head low. “I see,” he whispered, feeling very awkward, and finally putting down his stick. Never, in is life had he encountered a homeless puppy in Florida. That was very uncommon. An awkward silence filled the air. Not wanting to have to endure it, Gump rose with his joints creaking, and started down the narrow road of shops, houses, and palm trees, towards his home. Naturally, the puppy followed, her feet shuffling on the sand. “Stay and don’t follow me,” Gump growled. He turned around and went through his ancient and broken door.

when writing a story there is no one set way to do it...however, you should assume that the reader is used to having it in the format where only one person speaks in every paragragh...you can do it however you want but make sure the reader can easily keep up or they will not bother...most people are lazy readers
