day 2: theme park or drive down the coast from Santa Monica South to Laguna Beach

1 day - Universal Studio.
Drive around Griffith Park for the Xmas lights door.
visit Chinatown and have some dimsum.

well you already got the Disneyland and Universal Studios thing recomended.Try going to Six Flaxs Magic Moutain in Valencia! also try the In and Out burgers! check out San Pedro and Redondo beach pier...its nice.
