Look into classes of drugs on here. Class 1 through 4. The highest number represents the drugs potency effects on the mind etc. Is usually the drugs that are class 4 that has the most potential for abuse. These are the drugs like klonopin. xanax. morphine such as ms contin and fentanyl. They sell on the street. They are and can be deadly when mixed with other drugs and or alcohol. Darvocet n 100 mgs. Vicodin or hudrocodone all painkillers. Side effects are harrowing. There are drug books such as the nurses drug handbook. The best source I know of is the pdr. Physicians Desk Reference. That book is worth the 80 dollars you pay for it. It is very detailed with every drug, Generally the NDR will suffice. For general purposes.Cost usually 30 dollars is so. A great general refernce guide for medical staff as well as laypersons.

The phrase "soft drugs" is meaningless.

Psilocybin mushrooms make you hallucinate, but are much, much, much less toxic than alcohol. Indeed alcohol is one of the hardest drugs by most measures.

Most of the plant-derived hallucinogens are quite safe with few side effects, no addiction potential, so are considered 'soft' drugs, but they are quite 'serious' and can drastically change people's lives and personalities- for better or worse.

Prescription painkillers, while legal, can be a serious addiction. But the cigarettes any 18-year-old can buy at 7-11 are even more addictive than pain pills- and worse for your body than just about anything but meth.
Yet the 'drug' effect of nicotine is trivially mild compared to, say, mescaline.

So what's your definition? I don't think a coherent one is possible.

The person above who said that there is no coherent definition is correct. Most people usually refer to alcohol as a "soft drug." They ignore the fact that alcohol ranks among the most addictive and that it kills more people every year than all the illegal drugs combined -- by several orders of magnitude.

You are new to the subject, so I recommend that you read the Consumers Union Report on Licit and Illicit Drugs at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/cu/cumenu.htm It will give you a good basic education in the whole subject.

As for me, I could range difficult medicinal drugs and gentle medicinal drugs headquartered on its' downing (the sensation you get after 6 hours of the medicinal drugs utilization) and the long term results (that is affected two-three years after utilising it). Hard medicinal drugs are meth (the toughest of all), cocaine, ketamine and LSD. While the one gentle medicinal drugs are weed. The cause why I mentioned weed is the one gentle medicinal drugs (as I don't don't forget alcohol as medicinal drugs), is on account that the results and after results of weed. When any one is prime on weed, we referred to as it as stoned. When you are stoned - you both suppose absolutely blissful, hungry, sleepy and talkative. Usually weed lasts now not than three hours, as soon as it's over you're going to be again to usual. No hangovers or whatever. Your mind will position in general (honestly your mind features higher while you are stoned - however now not too stoned). So some distance there may be no circumstances on dying as a result of weed utilization :)
