I just got a Indian Ringneck Parrot just yesturday. He/She wont whistle,talk,when i perch my finger he sit for a few seconds and then flies away. Can he speak or is it dumb? He didnt eat so i gave him a apple by hand and held it there for a few seconds so he ate. Will he ever speak? Will he ever eat on his own?

They are EXCELLENT TALKERS!
I breed them and have two talkers inside the house with me.. (Rolls Eyes *Sigh)
you need to give the bird time and some peace and quiet till he is comfy in his new surroundings...

I used to breed Indian Ringnecks and they can talk. You need to be patient and allow the bird to adjust to his environment. Let him get used to you and he will eat and interact with you. Whatever you do dont "splice" his tongue! (I assume the person meant split) This is an old wives tale. It wont help your bird talk at all! Imagine how hard it would be for you to talk with a split tongue.

i'm not sure that those birds talk but a good talking bird is the quaker parrot its freindly and smart and socilizes quik not to $ either your bird may just be shy so wait a little while

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am sooooooo srry, but Indian Ringneck parrots dont even talk! the dude who sold it to you prabably played you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(either that or ur parrot is still shy, why dont u let him/her get used to u first?)

your pet may be just getting used to it's new home. wait a few weeks. maybe even months. they live to be 27, so he's bound to start talking sometime
