Counseling?

does anyone know how long Counseling can normally take?? I know that it varies by person, but my Ex is going thru counseling right now for a past abusive relationship which happened a couple of years ago. she is 20 and has talked to me and a couple of her friends about what she had went thru, so i think that she has a pretty good handle on what happened, she just needs help to figure out how to get over it.

Sometimes people get it, it clicks and they are ready to move on. I think this is party due to the skill of the therapist. Some therapists aren't very good and can drag out the counseling for years. Also, some people like the 50 minutes of attention they get because sometimes they use their issue as an excuse for their own failures.
Some people really don't want to move on because it's scary. Some people really do want to put it behind them.

I just like your girlfriend was in an abusive relationship. I made my way to see a counselor. It took me about 3 years because I not only dealt with the abuse I had experienced in my relationship but the abuse I went thru as a child. The 3 years spent in counseling helped me to become the strong person I am today. As for you, please don't discourage her from going. If anything accompany her for moral support. In the long run, it will benefit her and you.

Can take years, can be over quite quickly. I had counseling and it lasted 3 sessions, then I was fine. Good luck and stand by her.

as long as she needs it. there is no time limit anyone can put on this. ive been through abuse and i am still in counceling and im 27 ive been going sense i was 17 thats the best i can say
