Get her to her doctor or to an ER (emergency room) NOW. Yesterday would have not been too soon. THIS CAN BE A VERY, VERY SERIOUS CONDITION...EVEN LIFE THREATENING.

If she doesn't want to go because she has no money has no money, go anyway, she can work out payments later.

I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW SERIOUS THIS CAN BE. GO NOW!

I will not tell you what it sounds like, that's too much like giving you a diagnosis. I would ignore anyone else who does this.

The symptoms of menigitis include a sudden, severe headache, stiffness of the neck, irritabilty, crummy feeling (malaise), restlesness, nausea and vomiting. Delirium and complete disorientation may also develop. There is also an increase in temperature, pulse and respirations. Even if it's a severe case of influenza, this can be dangerous if not controlled and managed.

What exactly the problem is needs to be determined by an appropriate assessment. What exactly is her temperature? If it's over 100.1, take your friend to an ER where she can be treated now. Don't delay.

Sounds like influenza. There's nothing you really can do, but she should see her doc to be sure.
