I met my future wife in Miami back in 1996.

I was there on vacation by myself. My future wife was there on vacation with her sister, niece, and nephew.

I was on the beach reading a book, when a young lady asked me if I knew the location of a certain restaurant, that she was to meet her family there.

I offered to walk her there. Upon our arrival, we did not find her family. So, I offered to buy her dinner. It is hard to describe, but the best way to describe what happened, was that everything was just so natural, and we had a connection unlike no other I had ever had up to that point in my life. We just talked and laughed, and she seemed so fascinating, yet simple, humble, and non-assuming. I loved her instantly. She confided in me later that she felt the same for me.

Upon retrospect, I believe she played me like a fiddle, and that it was SHE who picked ME up. When I asked her some years after we were married, she swears that wasn't the case. She just thought that I looked like a nice, trustworthy man, which is why she asked me about the restaurant. I don't know if I believe that, but I am glad she worked up the nerve to ask me that fateful afternoon in Miami.

I'm not sure how to answer that. There's this guy I like. I can't agree with Delawarejobhunt. I look into John's eyes to let him know I'm only looking at him, with my whole heart and full attention, and that I'm attracted to him as well. That's it. I wouldn't say that's love or have fallen in love. I'm just attracted to him.

Well, I'd prefer to think of the song by England Dan and John Ford Coley

"It's sad to belong to someone else, when the right one comes along"....

Of course if you tell my wife I said that, I'll deny everything!!!!

When we were sunbathing at the lake and I woke up and he had his arm protectively around me. I thought, "this feels right." We were married three months later and that was 31 years ago.

There isn't just one way each person finds out in their way at their own time and everyone finds out differently. But basically you find out from you're senses.
