i hear so many so-called nasheeds that has piano's ,violins.flutes all that. then i go to Sahih Bukhari and find a lot of hadiths that claims this is wrong so why do we as a ummah still continue to go against the teachings of the rasool(saws)?

It's a highly debatable topic among scholars, they cannot find grounded evidence to prove or disprove certain elements. While some say that all musical instruments and singing is forbidden except a specific drum, some say that all percussion instruments are permissible as well as singing, and others say that all forms are permissible as long as they do not interfere with a persons obligations and does not distract him from his duties. All have their evidences, so it's one where you do what you find is most appropriate and favorable in God's eyes. Personally, I don't listen to offensive music (I find it putrid and have no idea how some of these people make money), I keep my prayers, and I rather enjoy Sami Yusuf and Yusuf Islam.

Edit: Ooooh, I LOVE Outlandish!! I so wish they were more popular here in the states!

i seriously agree with you. There is music in nasheeds because nearly all muslims listen to music and the lyrics are seriously a whole load of rubbish. Now, if the music is attracting muslims to listen to the nasheeds which have a positive influence, then although its wrong there is some truth eh? Seriously try it for yourself, i did and i've cut down alot. Try outlandish!

agreed with hayaa...
some religious scholars interpreting the hadith....say that all musical instruments are prohibited, except that specific drum ,called "daf".
some say,it's not the instruments that matters,it's the lyrics...so if u hear appreciation of God with music,or some other good words, then it's fine...like sami yusuf..his songs are really inspiring, but with high tone music...
i am not sure myself...so i try to avoid it as far as i can.

I have to go with Hayaa bi Taqwa above. She said it well.

It is a debatable issue. Still, I'd provide you a link which describes the matter:
