some cats purr less as they get older? My guy is 7-8 months & purrs all the time I don't want him to stop!

That is not true because one of my cats is 9 and the other is 7 and they purr the same.

I believe you are correct. We have several cats, some old, some new. It seems the older ones purr much less. I'm talking much older. Maybe they are old and hurting more. Don't know for sure. But I believe its part of the aging process.

One of my cats is 10/11 yrs old and I call him my little purring machine! He purrs a lot. It's lovely and peaceful but quite loud lol.

My cat is a black Bombay and he never really did purr, very rarely anyway, when he was a kitten. Now, he is nine and never purrs.

My one 13 year old cat is purring more than she ever did. It is wonderful! The other one is purring just as much and louder than ever.
