I find that his speeches and philosophy and life lessons on that show to be very wise and helpful, and thus follow them to the letter whenever possible. Is that a good blueprint for life?

It's only the true gospel of Kirk if it's a direct translation from the original Klingon...

HAHA. I live in Las Vegas and for a while I had a few friends that worked at the Las Vegas Hilton. They have a Star Trek museum there, as well as something of a theme park. There are Trek rides, and costumed characters to interact with- Klingons, Ferengi, even a Borg or two (creepy). I started hanging out in Qwark's Bar (an actual bar- cool atmosphere) and got to know a lot of the... aliens pretty well.

It's kinda neat to be greeted by Klingons when you're stopping for lunch. We had to keep our conversations 'in character' though.

"Greetings, human renegade! You have wisely been avoiding me. You should have delivered the plans for Earth's defense grid three standard days ago!"

"Oh yeah- sorry... I was on a weekend bender." (returns borrowed CD) "Here you go, Major. Now make sure I've got time to clear the solar system before you do anything crazy. I'm about to sit down for lunch."

Oh, and Kirk is a wise man; he never dates people he works with. Everyone else in the galaxy is fair game.

I love the original "Trek" shows, and I think they have many wonderful things to teach, but they were never meant to be a blueprint for life, and I don't think they would make a very good one--especially if restricted just to the character of Kirk.

I prefer to be inspired by the positive values depicted on the show, not follow it as a kind of Bible.

Live long and prosper.

Words are cheap. You could as well collect horoscopes and start living your life based entirely on things they say. While many statements sound good at first, no show, no book and no lecture whatever prepares you for life and are a substitute for your own experience and common sense.

We could go around Uranus and wipe out klingons, just like toilet paper.
