I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. The actuality is that you will probably never completely forget this terrible thing. But one thing you might try is to concentrate on the fun you had together and remember the good times you had with your dog. If this doesn't work, you might try some grief counseling. It can be very helpful. Seeing something like this to a loved one is a very hard thing to overcome. But there is help out there, so don't be afraid to reach out for it. Good luck

I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
I've experienced trauma with reruns in memory, too.
If you post your question in the Mental Health category, you might get some good suggestions from counselors and therapists.

By doing what you're doing; talking about it. Be forewarned, not everyone is an animal lover, so choose who you tell, but do tell. Also, everyone should allow themselves to go through the stages of grief. Holding it in, and trying not to remember will only delay the process.
Ten years ago, I watched my beloved Sidney die. His kidneys failed, and even dialysis no longer helped. I can still remember how he looked at me; maybe I should not have watched, I don't know, but, at the time, I thought, "You've always been there for me, so I'll be here for you." His ashes are in a vase, sitting on the fireplace shelf. His inscription reads: "Here lies my Sidney, one who had all the virtues of man, without any of his vices."
Guess what I'm trying to say, is that you never really forget, but you do, and you will learn how to deal with your pain; it just takes time and your friends'/family's support. I send mine to you.

Remember, "All Dogs Go to Heaven."

Sorry to hear about your dog's accident. You cannot "not" remember it. It is in your memory now and remain in your memory. What you need to do is learn to accept that it happened and learn to deal with it. It will get better with time. It'l like putting a pet to sleep...very hard at the time, but the pain fades away and the good memories will always be there.

I would start by not asking a bunch of strangers about it then read all of their answers about how to forget the "tragedy" all the while refreshing the memory......

p.s. Every minute of every day, somewhere in the world, 21 children die of malnutrition and preventable diseases & Poverty kills about 6,000,000 children a year..sooooo put some perspective on this matter.....

Aw, I'm so sorry. That must've been horrible for you. Allow yourself time to grieve and be sad, then maybe it might be easier to move on. Sometimes when we get focused on NOT thinking of something, that's exactly what we end up thinking about. Best of luck to you.

Very sad.. Sorry for your troubles. The passing of Time will help to ease the pain. Its not something you forget overnight. You are only human after all..

you can never stop thinking about it, because the more you don't want to remember, the more you will. get another dog, and if you already have other dogs, put all of your love to them, not your deceased dog. i am so sorry for your loss.
