Primer is thinner than paint to begin with. Just put on a good layer. It will be thin.

Thin layers until the paint cant be seen.
Too many heavy layers will not cover right and will take a long time to dry and some paint will peel. Just thin enough to cover the under layer of paint each time. It may take three layers depending on how dark the under coat of paint is.

Thin thin. You are applying something for the finish paint to bond to. Worry not about coverage until you start with the finish paint.

All primer applyed with one coat unless a black marker, ect. was marked on the wall. Then an oil base prime would cover on one.Primer is used to provied a ideal surface for the paint to addhear.
