I dont know anything about this stuff really and I cant say that she can sing very well (acting however wouldnt be much of a stretch) dancing also would be an option. I dont have the money to spend a fortune to get her started and I also dont want to force this at all this is all her idea (she sits and sees girls in movies and on tv and really really wants to do it. At school when they ask what the kids want to be when they grow up all she says is a superstar (however she also really wants to be a doctor (I know what I can do to support that one!!!!) It may sound crazy but if this is something she would excel at then I want to help get her into it!! Thank you for any goods idea.......she wants me to write this part -------->ps jordyns mom

1st of all she can act in children's or community theatre. That's a great place to start because she can get acting lessons and experience. Your local rec center may offer dance as well. You can call around to dancing schools and start her there. You can also call a John Roberts Powers or Barbizon school for their options (they would also represent her if they took her into the program). She WILL need photos (head shots) for publicity if she is going this direction. You can also contact talent agencies and find out about local commercial auditions, professional productions that travel through your area that need kids in supporting roles just while they are in your community etc. You don't have to spend a fortune, but you do have to invest a LOT of time.

Kinda depends on what you want to do at this stage of the ball game.

There are thousands of young 6yr old girls out there that are in the business, usually at their parents bidding. Show business whether doing a photo shoot, or a play, is not fun and games, or anything else associated with being a "superstar".

It is possible to get her into the business, but from my perspective there are only a very few (counted on one hand) child stars who's experiences led to positive things happening in later life.

Instead I would support her in both her dreams. Get her a doctors kit, and some books on first aid, human anatomy (for children of course) and let her operate on Barbie for a few years. In addition I would get a few tapes for the video camera and do some lip-syncing and/or short scenes. If you feel good about them, put some on YouTube, and when her friends come over they can operate on Barbie and then watch your daughter singing songs on the computer.... and in their eyes, (and hers) she will be a superstar!

PS. Good luck Jordyn!

You need to be careful with this. I have been to many casting calls and auditons, and some of the agencies like to prey on people who are new to acting/modeling. I agree that you should be able to let her see what is out there. And, there are plenty of ways you can do this. In most places in the country, there are open casting calls for models. They are always looking for everyone from young child to senior citizen for everything from print ads to TV commercials.

This is where it can get tricky. I have been told a lot of times not to accept anything where they want you to pay money upfront. I believe this to a point. I have been to one agency who wanted me to pay $1500 for classes. I didn't do that. However, I have had other agencies want me to pay about $500 for headshots. This I did do. Headshots can be very expensive (in the thousands of dollars), and when it comes in that much cheaper. I jumped on it. Even if I never got cast, I could send those headshots out to other companies.

A couple of things you want to look into. First, if your daughter is hired, see if they are an exclusive agency. Meaning, if they let you and your daughter seek out other agencies while you are with them. The more agencies you are with, the better of a chance you have of landing a job.

Also, see if you can keep the headshots. Some agencies want exclusive rights to the pictures, but most of them will let you have them, if not copies of them. Use these outside of the agency to market your daughter, if you are allowed to.

So, yes, could pursue this further, just be wary of what agents say. Also, if you have to sign a contract, read it throughly, and, if need be, have a lawyer go over it. Good luck.

I think it depends on where you live. Like I live in So Cal so I'd be able to allow my son do that if he so chose. He hasn't but he has had many people asking him why he isn't.

I would think maybe you could start with commercials in your area. A lot of the Mom and Pop stores may need someone to work on the commercials. Also some of the smaller department stores could use her in their ads.

But please be careful because she could get hurt. The producers or photographers may not like her "look" even if she is beautiful. She may not like it if you get her started, be sure this is for her and no one else.

Good luck to you, just keep your nose in whatever work she does because she's too little to stand up for herself. You have to do it.

Take her to your local Civic Theatre and see if they have a kids program that offers classes and does shows.

Check out the Parks Department. Sometimes they offer drama and dance classes.

THIS MIGHT SOUND SILLY BUT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO HELP HER OUT GET HER IN A MODELING AGENCY THAT SHOWS SHE HAS TALENT AND CAN HAVE GOOD PERFORMANCE ON STAGE. WHERE I LIVE THEY HAVE A LOCAL MODELING THING THAT HAPPENS ABOUT 5 TIMES A YEAR AT HOTELS AND STUFF. IT COST ABOUT $800 DOLLARS. I WAS GOING TO DO IT I GOT OFFERED EVERYTIME I WENT BUT AT THE TIME WE COULDNT AFFORD IT NOW I HAVE OTHER THINGS TO WORRY BOUT LIKE BASKETBALL, GYMNASTICS, AND CHEERLEADING.

whoops sry bout caps lol

Get her into a local children's theater so she can be on stage. Our local theater company will start kids at age 7, but they do have to audition.
