The first time I ever went to one, I was amazed. I was 30 years old and never in my very religious life had I been in the midst of a small group of people who were symbolically "standing before the throne of God" in heaven, interceeding for others, and worshipping. Many prayers were halting, and simple, but sincere. Others spoke fluently. Women prayed too (goodness! I wasn't used to that!) Since then I've been going regularly to prayer meetings and it's a great privilege. Beware religious groups that never hold a prayer meeting!

I'm Catholic. We pray during every Mass, so we generally don't call special meetings for it. At least my church doesn't. If you want to pray further, you can always go to Eucharistic Adoration, or pray at the church anytime it's open...or pray at home, in private.

I believe prayer is powerful, and if you get together with your friends or church members, it's even better cause you get support.

I think this is a good idea to keep in touch with the Spirit and also fellowship with others because half of our walk with God is learning from others.
