It holds us up, and our organs apart. Without the skeleton we couldn't move, we'd just be a blobby mass on the floor. Ray Bradbury wrote a story about a man who tried to get rid of his skeleton...can't remember which collection it's in...great read.

the skeleton is important to us because it is the frame on which the soft tissue rides. with out this we would not have form.
the bones that make up the skeleton are impoartant as the inside of them contains marrow . the marrow is where the white blood cells are made. we need them to live.
the skelton is is also the shield that protects internal organs from dammage like a suit of armour.
when the bones of the skeleton are conected to one another by soft tissue like caralige and tendons and ligaments the frame become like a workng machine that inables us to stand straight walk and carry things.
nerves such as the ones in the spine are put inside the skelton so that they have extra protection from damage.
the skeleton not only gives us a frame but is also the first place that the physical apperance of a person is built on.
highly skilled people can take just the bones such as the skull from a dead person and using some messurement that were arrived at as an average a persons facail apperance can be reconstucted showing us what the skull would have looked like with the skin on . this is used is help in the identifcation of a person skeletal remains and helps to solve missing persons casses. other times this system is used on very old skeletons to determine what a person from a very long time ago would have looked like this helps us see what our fore father looked like sometimes from millions of years ago.
i hope this was of some help to you .

Well, since you can't function as a human without a skeleton, I would say it's vital. It's important to care for your skeleton (read: your bones) to avoid breakage. The best way to do that is have a diet rich in Calcium and Vitamin D (which allows for the absorption of calcium). It's also important to engage in activities which creat impact, such as power walking and jogging because this also strenghthens your bones.

I wasnt entirely sure what you were asking, but I hope this helps.

I cannot believe the people who said cos we'd be jelly or similar. I guess there must be a lot of people on here that mistake their ignorance for yours,,,,,,

Anyway, bones are important for health in a number of ways. Firstly, they store important minerals such as calcium. If this part of our bones did not work we would have difficulties with blood clotting and impropor functioning or the nerves and muscles.

Our bones contain blood vessels, nerve cells and living bone cells known as osteocytes. These are held together by a framework of hard, non-living material containing calcium and phosphorous. A thin membrane called the periosteum covers the surface of our bones.

Running along the centre of long bones, such as your femur (thigh bone), is a cavity filled with bone marrow. Red bone marrow is a soft tissue that produces blood cells and yellow bone marrow is a store for fat. When the bone marrow does not work, blood cells are not produced in sufficient quantities and we run short of oxygen and our ability to fight infection. Bone marrow also produces platelets, without which our blood would not clot.

All the best

Well for a start it holds you up, muscles and tendons are attached to it. the brain is protected by the scull, the lungs are protected by the ribs so if anything is wrong with your bones it affects everything else

Are you serious?

I suggest you go and have your skeleton removed (a skeletonectomy?) and see how you do without it.

Because if we didn't have one, there would be no structure to hold us up. Therefore we will be a crippled lump of nothingness.

=) have a nice day!
