It depends on what caused it, but for a sunburn you could take a baking soda bath (2 cups baking soda to a tepid bath soak at least 20-30 minutes) . Or if it is an allergic reaction sometimes an oatmeal paste or soaking in an oatmeal bath - like Aveno- can really help. Good Luck!

Ice the area, keeping the ice on for no longer than 20 minutes at a time, 2 or 3 times a day. Swelling should go down in a few days. If not see your doctor. Heat can also be used to help releave sore muscles but much of the pain could be from the swelling and ice is what is needed for that.
