What are some mental excercises I could do to release stress I feel from work? When I leave, most days I feel like I am phisically & mentally exausted because of listening to people rant and freak out because of the smallest things. I want to know if anyone knows a good way to clear my mind and relax on my way home from work or when I get home. I hate carring the burdens around everywhere with me, because it gets on my nurves which makes me even more tired.

I have a retail management job, and this time of year people are crazy. I come home and prepare a relaxing meal and read for a little while. After that I grab my dog and we head out for a walk. Come home shower, and read again (or watch something on t.v.) I find that allowing myself to get away from the hectic craziness that is my life at work, allows me to sleep better and feel better about my lousy job to begin with. (but that's another issue)

But yeah, reading... writing... playing musical instrument... and animals all help my brain chill. :)

A great excersize for this is automatic writing. For most people it takes a lot of practice to do, but to some it is natural. All you need is some paper and a pencil. Try not to think about anything and just put the pencil to the paper and write. A lot of feelings you didn't even know you had will come out and after doing a couple pages of this, you feel so relieved of stress. The only thing is when you are doing this, you can't think about what you are writing, you shoulnd't know what you said untill you go back to read it. Also yoga helps a lot.
