Well, most worms that are parasitic are species-specific. So there is a very small chance that you will obtain those worms, but it is possible and it will make you sick. As for the dog, it probably has Ascaris which are intestinal roundworms. They are free-moving in the intestine and feed off of the contents of it. They are potentially dangerous worms, as I guess you could say for all worms, and if they do not get treated large numbers of the worms could block the intestine. The host(dog) will pass some of the worms through feces which will die due to starvation, of course. Although, what we can't see is the eggs that the females lay, also come out in the feces which then enter the soil and are hatched in a couple of weeks. So don't go biting your fingernails after you get done working in your garden ;)
Oh yeah, I didn't feel I had to mention the whole "take the dog to the vet" bit. I'm sure we can see that from everyone else's writings.

Were they long or short? If the worms looked like a grain of rice, they are tape-worms. While scratching (biting) the dog ingested a flea(s).....which carries the tape-worm egg, then it 'hatches' in the dogs tummy. When the dog poops, SOME of the worms (parasites) come out. There are other types of worms as well. But what you described is probably the tape worm.
Take dog AND poop to vet (find out type of worm). Then IF it's tape worm, vet will give that pooch a shot to kill those parasites!

Pick that poopie up immediately and make an appointment for your dog and it's poop to get to the vet asap! Your dog needs to be dewormed. There are various types of worms that can infect an animal - some can affect people too. Some worms, such as heartworm, can be deadly.
Please be careful to keep all your dog's poopies picked up so no one else can catch this infection - two or four leggeds.

most people have dogs on what ever the vet suggest, but if you want ultimate protection from worms of any kind, there is a vaccination called Ivormec. it is for pig and swine but once a month you put a tiny amount (ask your vet for app. dosage).
I have been using it for about 10 years and have never had a problem. this can be picked up at any store that carries farm animal supplies, medicines.
happy hunting

It means he has worms. Take him to the vet asap and have him dewormed. There are many treatments your vet can give him that should get rid of them pretty quickly. Also be careful, some worms can be passed onto people as well

Call the vet NOW.
Worms are bad for dogs, and de-worming is relatively easy. You got to call the vet. Remember that if it is roundworms, it can be passed to humans. So get it checked out sooner than later.

It means that the earthworm farm that you started is now a success and you can expect more worms to come from your dog, invite other dogs to join in and you will get more worms which of course you can sell for bait to the fishermen in your area. Congratulations on a successful business, always good to see the little guy/gal succeed......

Sounds like worms. Take him to the vet for some de-worming. And keep up on your preventative treatment once this outbreak is solved!

It means you're doggie needs to get medicine ASAP. He has worms (duh) and it also means that you need to get checked out. You CAN get worms from your dog.
It's very inexpensive to get your dog dewormed. Skip over the counter medicines and go to the vet. It should only be around $20-25. Good luck.
