I'm not sure what happened other than my sister did something and now it doesn't boot.

When one attempts to power on, the display remains black and the computer beeps like it was on a respirator unit.

I put a Windows XP boot disk in the CD bay (it opens and closes and the unit gets power fine). The LED to the display flashed, which indicated that the bay door closed, but nothing else happened. When I tried to boot with the Windows disk, I had the same issue.

What is wrong? What the heck did my sister do? Can I fix it?

Okay...I have had this happen to me...
1. Unplug it
2. Pop the case
3. Take out the memory
4. Put the memory back in
5. Plug it back in
6. Turn it on

See that that gives you

You may have a dead battery... On the mother board the battery keeps your BIOS and CMOS stored when you power off the machine... Replace the Battery and reset your BIOS.
Good luck.

It sounds like someone opened it up and messed with the memory sticks! Make sure they are properly installed and seated correctly!

Could possibly be a dead hard drive (happens from time to time) or a bad motherboard. God Bless.

Check the video card, it could be out.
