so many people claim that prayer works, yet ive never seen real statistics on this. do people know that the body does have the ability to heal itself? that it does have the ability to fight off infections and that we have natural immunities to some?

so those that say, "god healed his broken arm" or his flue, or his sickness, did you know that the statistic is equal for those who dont pray as well?

if you take 100,000 amputees, all have faith in christ, all pray for their limb to grow back, why will god always answer no? shouldnt he answer yes to some?

i believe the bible says:
Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Matthew 7:8
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Luke 11:10
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

ask and u will recieve.... why no then?

obviously u dont know how fallible doctors are? not all doctors know everything.

i had sprained my ankle real bad once, one day i went in it was broken, the next they errored and it was just fractured, the next i went in and they said it was just sprained.

i wouldnt put a basis on the fallability of man to be your basis of prayer.

Chippy,

Didn't you ask this last week? (I think you did.)

There are statistics that prayer is powerful and works. That is, medical stats. They have watched many people of prayer over the years and say that it (prayer) does work. They can not explain the spiritual but they can see the medical results.

More people that pray are happier and get well faster than those that don't pray. The report stated that they have a better outlook and more hope.

And did you also know that many times ( and I have experienced this in my own life with loved ones) that doctors can tell you one thing, and the next day they are completely shocked that that person is better? For instance- my brother had pneumonia when he was 6 weeks old- it was really bad and the doctor told my mom he had a good chance of not making it- and of course back then medicine wasn't like we have today....my mom prayed and had so much faith God would heal him--her faith was so strong she told the doctor, that she knew God would heal him- the next morning not only was my brother better, he was back to normal!
That is GOD! And of course my parents praised God for that.

Also a friend of mine stood next to the stove and his back caught on fire...he had serious burns the worst which is what 3rd degree? Anyways, the doctors told him they would need to do surgery because it was so bad...they said he would never look the same again either. A week later, he was completely BETTER and get this- NO SCARS! The doctors were amazed at this- and could not explain it, and they did not have to do the surgery. And of course he prayed and his family prayed - we all prayed! We know it was God...the doctors were amazed with my brother too..this happens A LOT- with those who have faith in the Lord- when at their worst circumstance and knowing that they need more than just a doctor's hand....God is the one who comes through for those who love and trust Him. But it is those who LOVE and TRUST Him- Faith is a mighty thing! And believe me- God has done great and marvelous things~ Praise Be to Him!!
Job 37:5
God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.

You have to belive in what you ask for. If you don't think that prayer is going to work... it won't.

1:6
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

You should quote your sources:

That pretty much sums it up. Doesn't work!
