I have a couple of female friends with whom I have a close relationship. How close can a guy get to a girl who's already taken without breaking any social norms? I mean is hand holding allowed, how much touching is too much, is it okay to go out with her without her man?
Otherwise, do I have to keep a distance even though they both love spending time with me in intimate conversation and other non-overtly-sexual interactions?

Basically you have a thing for your friend that, sounds like, is in a relationship she is happy in. Humm. Well, if I were you and you really wanted to stay friends I would keep my distance. Heres why... if lets say you started coming around a lot making problems with me and my current boyfriend I would blame you for our split. If on the other hand you stay your distance and just be a good friend and then I break it off with the current guy and you let a small amount of time go by lets say a week (each girl would be different and depend on how long she was with the other guy), then told me you had a thing for me I would be willing to consider it without blaming you or thinking you were trying to get me while I was hurt. Which you wouldnt want to do, a person needs time after a break up to get the other person out of their system.

No you cannot hold hands, keep your hands to yourself, which means with touching too much too. Whether or not it is ok for you to go out with her without her man is depending on the relationship between her and her man and what they have agreed upon. I see no reason you should have to keep your distance, just be respectful and think about how you would feel if you were the boyfriend and if it were your girl.

You shouldn't be able to get that close to a girl in a relationship already and *especially* no touching (hand holding, etc). Would you like it if your girl was doing that with another man?

The way I always see it is, don't do anything to anyone that you wouldn't like done to you. It works.

If you are asking this question, then you are in a bad place. Someone is going to get hurt. Been there, done that. View her as just a friend and treat her as you would a guy, or back off. It is an oh so slippery slope otherwise.

No hand holding for that is intimate. Keep your distance, go out and have fun.

I don't think holding hands is acceptable if the girl is in a relationship.
If you were seeing a girl, how would you feel about her holding hands with another guy?
Just think about that and go from there.

no i do not believe hand holding is allowed, but i do believe that if you all are really close then kissing on the cheek shouldnt be a problem if no feelings are involved

I think nothing sexual is allowed, the important thing is to keep your mind clear and take it as a friendship, as long as that's clear everything is unnecessary

How do we know?
You need to put these questions to your girl friends.
They set their limits on you.
But like I said be polite, ASK before you search the bush!
