I have seen The Nativity Story and it was good. I took my 13 year old daughter to see it. She left wanting to know more. We are Christians and go to church every Sunday. She knows the story and reads the bible. The movie made it more real for her.

I have heard good review from the everyday people. You know, the kind that doesn't have a film degree, just know what movies are interesting and enjoyable. I have not talked to anyone who does not like the movie, even the people who can be adhd during movies were able to sit and enjoy it. It challenges the idea of the "feel good" navity story, but shows an accurate discription. It has Biblical scripture in in it and also allows people to see the nativity in the society and contex in which Jesus was born.

I haven't seen it, but wonder how you can state that it isn't strictly biblical when that's where this story came from? While dialogue must have been dramatized (because of the lack of dialogue in the Bible), the story is what it is - the birth of Jesus.
I can honestly tell you that the appeal for such a movie among non-Christians is going to be pretty low. If there was a movie about The Faith of The True Muslim, I don't think you'd go see it.
Incidentally, I wouldn't see either of them.

I have seen the movie and I think it is an excellent movie. The one who plays Mary is actually 16 years old. Isaac( Joseph) is American born but has Guatemalan roots. He looks like a Jew. They make it look really authentic. The producer has really studied about the Nativity. Everyone looked like a Jew and the Romans looked like Romans. They put a lot into it.

I also have heard some terrible reviews. People say that the whole thing is like out of a nativity children's pageant with the Chrismassy music. But I guess it was about time they did a modern version of it.
Did you know that:
The actress that plays Mary who is 16 actually IS pregnant in real life.
