My sister is getting married in July, could I give her a gift off of her registry for Christmas, or should I give her a different gift?

I told everyone if they really wanted to know what i wanted for Christmas to check my registry. Once i get it I will take it off- at least that way I get what I want.

A different gift. A wedding registry is for the wedding; not any holidays than come along in between when she registered and the wedding itself.

If you think she'd really want something off the registry, talk to her about it...but also realize that you will still need to get her a wedding present and that this isn't a two-for-one.

If what you mean is that you want to buy her a gift from the registry for christmas in addition to buying her a gift for the wedding from that same registry, well, I think that's a pretty clever
idea. Go for it.

You could give her a gift off her registry. You will still need to give her a gift for the wedding itself, however. Otherwise you are cheating her out of a Christmas present and you will look cheap.

I think that you should get her something different.
Or ask what she would like.
But if you do get her something off her registry for Christmas, it won't be a big deal. Just be sure to let the cashier mark that the gift has been bought. Then get her something like a sweet sister ornament to add the Christmas flare!
I would not, however buy her towels or a toaster if she isn't living where she will be living when she gets married. I'm sure she doesn't need to have something laying around until then. Get her something she can use.
Happy Holidays!

Give her a different gift. The registry is for gifts for her wedding and for all of those guests to have ideas for what the couple wants for their new space together. You being her sister should be able to come up with some good, unique ideas that she didn't "register" for.

it is accepatable if you know it something that she will really want and is ok with. i have a friend getting married in April and i asked her first if it was ok and she was thrilled with teh idea, but i decided that i will have to buy enough bridal shower gifts that Christmas should be different. (I still bought her some beautiful picture frames for Christmas that bridal portraits will look great in but they were not on her registry and it's somethign she can use at the wedding too when she displayes pictures of her and her honey at the reception. so it's kind of both but more special.

well, I think it would be fine. Obviously she needs those things and I wouldn't mind getting somthing off of my registry for christmas. Just don't count it as a wedding gift and get her somthing else in July.

I would give her a Christmas present, and give her a registry gift at the time of her bridal shower.

You could get her something off of her registry. Just make sure that you have the store mark it as "sold" on the registry, so no one else gets it in July.
