3 prostitutes found dead in Ipswich in the last week, 2 more missing. Do you think that if prostitution was legalised in the UK in a similar way to the red light district in Amsterdam then prostitutes would have a safer environment and things like this would be less likely to happen.
Could you ever see prostitution ever legalised in the UK?

If for 1 second this government thought prostitution could be legalised, controlled, accepted for what it is and most importantly TAXED, don`t you think it would?

Proper prostitution should be legalised- in a brothel or private house is fine.

We should stamp out the diseased, junky street corner prostitutes though. And the easy way to do this, is to have heavy HEAVY penalties for kerb crawling. It's my belief that a great deal of the money these street prostitutes earn, goes on heroin.

Lets' go after these "kerb crawlers" instead.

All they have to do, is make it a crime to drive repeatedly down the SAME street, time and time again, without a good reason. The police could stop street prostitution tomorrow if they did this. They could also stop a lot of these annoying boy racer types with the same law.

It is the oldest job since time began, prostitution is only a word that because of society & media make it looked down on. It is sick this is happening but due to government & media issues repressing society instead of trying to do anything positive every chance is taken to glorify the details of any client/custemer contact, which is plain sex in any form. The government will never legalise until it acknowledges publicly that this is a real job or trade that requires support and legal legislation to protect. This issue will gain media coverage to the point that people will see the need of legislation, but will be forgotten, ignored, and raise again as a subject in the future.

I agree with the majority of those who have answered this question, Yes, prostitution should be legalized in the UK and in all other countries of the world.

It has been proven that legalized prostitution has lowered the violent crime rate in Denmark and Sweden by close to 50%.

Prostitution has always been a victimless crime so why make it a crime in the first place. And for you moralists, read the Bible and count how many times prostitutes were used to help the Hebrews and indeed how many are in the genealogy of Jesus.

God gave us two things to love and enjoy: 1. Food because we all love to eat and enjoy the company we eat with. and 2. Sex because it is fun and enjoyable.

Lets get prostitution legalized everywhere...it could also cut down on the disease factor as well if they are licensed and must have medical exams to practice their trade.

Prostitution is one thing ....murder is another. These women have been murdered.... If a man wants to murder a woman be it a prostitute or not he will find a way of doing so. Prostitution will continue legal or not and even in 'safe areas' there will be women who won't conform, women who won't work for pimps, women who 'work' from home when their families are out, women who earn a few bob on the way home from the pub at the weekend...these women put themselves at risk more than the 'average' woman...that is the only difference I see. Legalising prostitution will not stop murder it will redirect the murderers to another victim.

I'm in favour of legalising prostitution, having red light districts and legal brothels. I've twice lived in red light districts and it used to be hazardous walking home from work through the area as all women were targetted by punters. Even when you were just lugging your shopping home!
When they're arrested and fined they just have to go back to earn the money to pay the fine.

we have it as a legal business in most parts Oz, the business pays tax, and is monitored constantly by the health department, the reason it became legal is because its a business you will never stop and its better that it be made a safer business not just for the woman but also for the customer health wise.

Yes it does work and I would say it is better to be legalised but you will always have prostitutes that will work the streets rather than take advantage of these registered businesses that are designed to protect them.

Yes it should, never mind these old people who whinge at the slicest thing saying they should stop it, prostitution has been around since the year dot and nobody can or will stop it. It would be much safer for the girls to work from having a brothel. When will this evil man be caught. Lets hope it will be soon before he strikes again.

Prostitution should be legalised. Its a business, and giving it the go ahead would certainly be a step in the right direction. No more kerb crawling, a safe place to deliver the goods, and more income for the exchequer.

Yes I do. There is a big demand it and it's not likely to go away so why do we still view it as shameful? Legalise it, make the girls safer and stop the men from feeling seedy about going to one. I can see it being legalised one day, but in the distant future.

i dont think it should.Nobody should feel the need to sell their bodies.i know women who have done this for years and used excuses like ' i need the money'.I dont buy this for a second,we live in a country which which provides unemployed people with benefits.I am a single parent on benefits who struggles to get by but at no point do i think i could sell sex for extra money!

Prostitution is immoral everywhere even Amsterdam, they just have just been let down by their legal system.Doesnt anyone else think sex shouldnt be something you can buy?
What kind of man buys sex? -weirdos,perverts etc
what kind of women sell sex?-junkies&money grabbers
why would anyone want to pay to have sex with a junkie?
I dont care if it would be safer to legalise brothels,in my opinion selling sex is the highest form of wrong because the hookers are living a life than no one would want their mum, daughters, sisters etc to live,so why should we say its ok to do so. Anyone can get a job or benefits in the uk.I'd rather clean or waitress than sell my body cause at the end of the day thats all you have........women should use it to protect there selfs rather than soiling their selfs!
