What can you do with a teen (17) who lies all the time? She's my adopted sister and she lies about EVERYTHING. Most importantly, she lies about people abusing her. She later admits to the lies, but it's getting really crazy. She's been on anti-depressants but they don't seem to do anything. Her mother was mentally ill. I'm just so worried that she'll emotionally destroy my parents!

It's sad and sometimes you can't do anything about this type of situation. You've obviously become an adult, worrying about your parents instead of yourself. Your parents won't become emotionally destroyed. The 3 of you need to stick together during this bad time. Sometimes bad times drive people apart, so get in there to hold it together.

It's not unusual for people to lie about abuse. Often they will feel that it was somehow their fault. Sexual abuse victims will often take years before they will report a rape. Even physical abuse often goes unreported for a long time after it happens.
But if she is a compulsive liar I don't really thing that you can do anything about it except be skeptical of all she says. She might just be doing it for the attention or it might actually be a mental disorder.
Also if she is depressed one of the biggest things she'll need is a few good friends. Try getting her to join a club, church group, etc.
I assume she's in high school. That can be a very difficult place for some teens. If the problem is school related I would suggest having her drop out and attend a technical school to get her diploma. That's what a friend of mine did and the change of environment really helped. At a technical school you'll find people who actually want to be there for education purposes, not truancy laws. They'll be more mature and won't emotionally harm fellow students to make themselves feel better and be more popular

Antidepressants do not cure lying...I had a relative that lied so much and so often that she tore three brothers apart for good and then she thinks she did the right thing...When she is eighteen practice tough love...she is doing it for the sensationalism.

If she is an undiagnosed bi-polar and taking anti-depressants, they might be making her worse.

Tell your parents to take her to another psychiatrist and have her re-evaluated.

Often times bi-polar is misdiagnosed as simple depression.
