You have paper trained her and she thinks that's where she goes. This is one reason why I have never been a fan of paper training. It confuses the animal from the start.
To break her of this, try the following:
Next time you go for a walk, take a sheet of newspaper with you. After a while, place it on the ground and show it to her. Tell her to go potty or whatever phrase you use. If she won't go, then walk her some more and repeat. If she never goes, then you are in for a housebreaking nightmare.
If that's the case, all you can do is keep moving the paper towards the door, every day or so, a little at the time. When she gets to the door, then notice when she is about to go. Before she goes, though, praise her and then take her outside. If she won't go, repeat the process with the outside newspaper.
After you get her going outside with either method, then start placing the newspaper in the same place everyday. Eventually you should be able to remove the newspaper and she'll continue going there.
Good Luck !!!

Why don't you try putting paper down just outside by your front door maybe the puppy is so paper trained it just won't go without it, sort of like a cat with a litter box. I'd go for the walk and then put the newspaper down outside but on his territory and maybe he will go then. Good luck, if it doesn't work you might just have to buy the doggie pads a lot of people use these and seem to be happy with them. Good luck to you and your puppy. Oh yeah don't give up after one try do it everyday for three weeks even if he doesn't use it he might just need some time to adjust.

Try starting out by taking the pup outside to potty every couple of hours. Tell her to go pee while she's out there. Crate her at night time, bed time, the same time every nite. Take her outside to potty first thing in the AM. This way she won't go inside the house while everyone is sleeping and she will learn to hold it til she gets outside. After about a week or 2 of doing this regularly she should get the hang of it and let you know when she has to go out.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Move the paper closer and closer to the door day by day until it is outside. Then make it smaller little by little. Also, do you take her out right after she eats? She IS house trained, just needs to know it is ok to go outside! 5 months is still young...some dogs need more time. She is obviously very smart!

Your dog is paper trained!! Congratulations - now you've got to train her that the place to go is outside, not on the paper inside. You need to gradually drag the paper outside and closer to the door. Even to outside. Take her for a SHORT walk, come back to the house, show her the paper and drag it toward the outside.
Also bell train her so that she can "ask" to go outside.

Take her for a longer walk and let her smell everything - every bush, every pee pee spot. She will not understand until she can associate pee pee on the lawn (for example). If at all possible, have her go for a walk with another/older dog.

if you havent trained your puppy yet, than you probably should. if he/she just isn't catching on, bring it outside when it needs to go and then maybe give it a treat or reward. later if that doesn't work, you can always take it to the dog trainers.

let your dog sniff about more when you walking it also you dog recognises the smell of its pee so try putting a paw in it before you walk it and it may then smell the scent on its paw and go

when your puppy makes obvious signs that it needs to go toilet, take it outside, and keep it there until it does go toilet, keep doing it and it will get used to going toilet outside
