I have just gone through one of the most difficult years of my life, and I'm curious to hear people's responses. In the past year I have found myself with over $50,000 in credit card debt due to bad choices, I have not been able to get a job in a town I just moved to for over 6 months, I'm having to continue to borrow just to keep myself and my fiancee alive, and I feel as if I have lost my way.

Until last year my life has seemed to just work out, yet for the first time I feel I have lost all faith that things will be okay, and I am feeling very lost and hopeless. I have a fiancee who loves me, parents who are doing their best to help take care of me, yet I feel almost no motivation to continue living.

So my question is: what would motivate someone like me to continue to live in spite of all of this? Why are most human beings willing to endure incredible hardship, and yet they don't give up? I'm only half looking for an answer, this is more of a prayer for help.

Thanks.

"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall" --Unknown

The greatest strength of the human spirit is its ability overcome anything, absolutely anything. To keep plodding along when the going is hardest, is heroism greater than Superman... who needs nothing.

Want to know a secret? The world can't beat you. Can't. Beat. You. You only lose if you give up. If you keep going, you win. The only possible defeat is by concession. You know the rumored ability of people to lift ten times their normal capabilities when desperate? That's there, in you.

This is what the Christmas season is all about. In the darkest, coldest, hardest, dreariest time of year, we celebrate life and light and loving and caring and our support for each other. You have people who love you. They want you to keep going. They are rooting for you to win!

I don't know your financial situation, but maybe you'll have to declare bankruptcy to get out of debt or call a debt manager. It's not the end of the world. Two people very close to me have had to do this, and you know what? They recovered, and so did their credit. It wasn't pleasant, but they did it and moved on and found success. It's better than giving up.

Hang in there, please hang in there. You will amaze yourself with what you can do.

Why are you supporting your fiancee? Are you living with her? If so I can see why God is dealing with you as He is. I may not be judging your situation here correctly, but first check out your life and relationship to God. Are you living as God says? God says don't go into debt, so why would you have a $50,000 debt? If you are a Christian God will just take you down more and more until you start to live by His principles. About 90% of all suicide thought come when there is sexual immorality in the life and people can't live with the guilt. The whole purpose why God does this is to make you wake up and get back under His authority. Until you do nothing I can say would help.
Forgive me if I have misjudged you.

It is not a sin to file bankruptcy. If you are overloaded for what ever reason and are honestly not able to pay-file for bankruptcy. God made provisions for this on the Old Testament. It was called Jubilee. Even if you went broke and could not pay your debts, and your land was confiscated to cover the cost-every 50 years all debts were wiped away and all land was returned to the rightful owners. That was God's law.
Some people abuse the bankruptcy laws, but don't let that stop you from using bankruptcy if you need to. The purpose of it is to help people out of a mess they can not get out of by themselves. Go for it.

You yourself have given reasons to go on....your fiancee and your parents! They love you and support you , no matter what. That is the best thing that can happen to you. Whenever I am going through rough times, I always remind myself "this will also pass". As there are good time in our lives, in the same way, we have bad times.....we never seem to complain or think about good times, then why the cribbing and crying over bad times?
Just sit back and think...this time will pass soon and then sometime in the future when you have a good life, this time will just be a memory!
Good luck to you!

it seems you know of JESUS CHRIST because you mention prayer, if that is the case you more than likely have felt the conviction of the holy spirit and you also know how to fix this problem. I got the same way. I had it all and fast it was taken. wealth, a family, a home and friends and a good job. why? because i felt the draw of the holy spirit and still refused Gods call. well, after being told i was bi-polar ,ocd blah, blah, i went into the closet and tried to rip my skin off my body for no apparent reason and contemplated suicide. well, long story short...i knew i would burn in hell if i killed myself so i got on my knees (very very last resort) and called out to GOD and trusted him to save me! And you need to marry your fiance or dont fornicate. i think you already know that but, hey, i got warned hundreds of times by people who didnt even know me like that from the lord. well needless to say i lost him almost permanently, we split for 6 months and i served the lord , got right, and yes my boyfriend actually followed me to church one day and got saved himself! now we are doing great. i got a better job, i have a home now im not homeless, my kids are happier and i love life . So , i will pray earnestly for you today and just know that empty longing for "BETTER" is called jesus loves you and he wants you to give his way a chance with all your heart. It is all the hope you need. God is able to send a bird with bread to feed a starving man in the desert he can handle your problems too if you let him.

PUT ONE HAND ON ONE SHOULDER AND THE OTHER ON THE OTHER SHOULDER...SQUEEZE.. THAT IS A BIG HUG FROM JESUS . HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW HE LOVES YOU AND NOTHING YOU CAN DO WILL EVER STOP THAT.

Everyone has times of despair, but you just have to keep going. When you least expect it good things will come your way. My husband and I lost a baby girl back in Aug and what would have been my due date is coming up next Sunday and although it is hard for us we know that when the time is right we will be blessed with another baby.

Would you rather endure incredible hardship or nothing at all? The future is infinite potential. There is no future in death. You should be very thankful to be alive even if your situation were much, much worse.
