I would first look in to the US Dept. of Justice web site. From there I would also look in a college library for DOJ publications relating to such investigations. The Library of Congress is a good source as well as your States Attorney Generals Web Site.

In this area most dept's have officers that have taken extra training (usually by Federal and State Depts) on how to identify potential hate groups. Some bigger dept's also have specialty units (depending on how widespread the problem is).

As far as how they are dealt with is a different story. You see if it's a group of white guys together talking about their beliefs or protesting its a race hate group, and unaceptable, the police are called and its called harrassment If its a group of black's screaming and making their beliefs known it's a Public gathering protected by the constitution and the freedom of assembly.

Most people consider the KKK a hate group. They're actually more like a social club for alcoholic convicted felons. They're really not something to deal with since they can't stay sober long enough to cause a problem before they pass out.

The KKK isn't an unlawful employer and they are secure with techniques from the first change to a significant volume, only as each and anybody else is. it truly is the astonishing thing about u . s . a . of america for you...even hateful fools can talk their minds.

Go to the "Southern poverty law center" web site. They have put them out of business, all the links you want from there.
