My BF's daughter started calling me Mom this weekend, I am not sure why. I love her so much and I am used to her being clingy and things like that, but I was at work and my bf wrote me a text saying that she was calling me mom, then when I got home she was calling me that the whole time. Not sure if it bothers me or not. She has a Mom, that she lives with and this is just out of the blue. We get her every other weekend and then all of a sudden out of no where. What do you guys think the reason for this is. Is it normal.....how would you feel about it?

... lol ... ok my daughter called my Uncle - daddy for almost 6 mths ... knowing he wasn't her daddy ... only because she would hear my little cousins calling him daddy ... it was pretty embarrassing (to me) ... she grew out of it though & laughs about it now ... if it bothers you - say something - maybe change it up ... as long as you don't make her feel anymore confused about the whole situation she'll be just fine ... I think it's normal though ... don't worry about it too much ... unless you know you don't want to play that role in the future ... you are dating a daddy ... so be careful ... !

I would be very upset about it if I was her mom. It's normal for children to call others "mom" but, the adult should correct her. It might be helpful if you think of another name similiar to mom that she can call you. Everytime she calls you mom correct her and it should pass.

You have to correct her that you are not her mom. She will be confused...and her real mom will be pissed. How do you feel if your own daughter calls someone else "mom."

i think they are hinting the relationship may be moving toward a "relationship".
