Question Details: My friend really enjoys smoking and I thought I would gift wrap a couple of cartons for her and a nice lighter. As a smoker would you appreciate this gift? Should I add a Cigarette case? another carton? What you would prefer?

The lighter and the case are a good idea, but I was always told don't give a gift that "hurts"-and smoking hurts. I'm a smoker, but I would not appreciate the smokes. Sorry.

Gosh, fancy thinking of giving her a carton of cigarettes? For goodness sake, forget that idea! As a friend, don't you think its better if you get her something which can help her to quit smoking instead? I'm a smoker, a heavy one at that but i'd get pissed if someone gives me cigarettes as a gift. Perhaps a lighter will be nice but definitely not something you should give to a girl. If you can be creative enough to think of this, i'm sure you will know what better things to give to her.

I don't think it is a sensitive gift. If you are not sure what to get her, you could probably get her a gift card from a very special place, maybe a spa, or a store that you know she really enjoys shopping at.
But please, forget the idea of offering her cigarettes, that kind of means "l don't care if you destroy your health and l will even help you do so".

I used to be a smoker when I first started going out with my current boyfriend...then he made me stop smoking because it's unhealthy for me. By him doing this, it made me feel like he really cared about me. If you really cared about this person, you wouldn't encourage her smoking by buying her any lighter or cigarettes...

Unless she already uses a cigarette case I wouldn't buy her one. It seems so grandma to me. Hehe.
A nice lighter could be cool, though! Check out the Zippo website (http://www.zippo.com/) and look for them on Ebay or places like that, too. They make really fancy ones and ones that are holiday themed or sports themed or just have fun pictures on them.
