I have a Canon PowerShot SD100 Elph. In My Computer it does not recognize the camera as a hard drive (C:, G:, etc) and I cannot copy photos into the camera's icon. Even after double clicking on the camera icon.

Based on the description of your problem, you probably need to find the CD that came with your camera, and install the camera drivers and software from it to your computer. Despite the hype that Windows XP offers "plug and plug" for peripherals, I found it's mostly a myth. Spend a few minutes with the instruction manual and the CD, intall the drivers and any other needed software, and you should be able to transfer the pictures easily.

If you lost/tossed the CD and manual, you should be alble to download both from Canon's Web site.

Another alternative is to purchase a "card reader" for the type of memory card your camera uses. Just take the memory card out of the camera, plug it into the card reader, and plug the card reader into an unused USP port. It'll operate just like an ordinary flash memory drive, no extra software needed.

Connect the camera to the PC via the USB port. Call up the photos on the PC (the icons). Go to File - top left - down to Send to - probably Removable Drive (or Camera) and send............ (ps. the Camera should be switched on).

Assuming Windows XP, connect your camera to the computer and Windows will ask you what you want to do. Choose the option to "Open folder to view files"

This will open a window on your screen. Now you can simply drag the JPEGs from wherever they are stored on your computer onto the new window that opened. This will create a copy on your camera's memory card (i.e. the originals will remain in place on your computer).
