I have a 23 year old best friend who has been very sick lately. i have know her for five years now and she has been like a sister to me. A long time ago, a doctor told her she had an irregular heartbeat and it may lead to heart problems later on in her life if she didn't quit smoking. She hasn't yet. That was about six or seven months ago. Well, last Saturday, she was taken to the hospital because she coughed so hard that something happened to one of her ribs. The doctor told her that she has some sort of respiratory disease. She didn't tell me what it was exactly. My best friend has been sick for at least three weeks now, and she has been coughing A LOT. I feel so bad for her. She has always been there for me and now I want to help her out. I am going to see her this up and coming weekend. Is there anyway to deal with any of this (her coughing, irregular heartbeat, respiratory disease, sickness). If anybody know anything about this stuff please help me out. She's too young for this.

Well Brandon: does this friend want this help? do you love her? does she love you? lets cut it to the quick right here and now, O.K. your in love with her.
In the first place she has to stop the puffing. I did after 47 years Buddy. Don't tell me how hard it was. The doctor told me I had both feet in the coffin, I had six by passes, they said I would have had a major coronary. I have a lot of fishing to do yet.
Your friend probably has asthma or emphysema from smoking, she'd better stop to start with. She probably broke a rib from coughing.

It's good to have a Friend to stand by you but let me tell you, she has to want it. I did this to a dear friend that was in 'Nam with me.
He anted to die, there was nothing to be said, I watched him die. He said he wanted to be with our buddies. I had to let him go, but, this was something different you see he felt they were waiting for him. I had to let him go.
Keep trying my friend, you might make it, let her know you love her.

everytime she reaches for a cigerette punch her (lightly) so she knows and thinks not to do it. everytime she reachs for a cigerette and ur not there shell think of the punch. theres been expierments about this. it works. tell her u care. tell her u value her life and she should think of not only her own health but her parents (if she has siblings) and OF COURSE you.
