What are my chances to play high school, college golf?

I am 14 years old, Freshman in high school. I practice on the range every day for 4-5 hours with 1 hour of short game/bunker practice. Also another hour for putting. My handicap is a 12 right now. The handicap should go down because I am planning on getting a few lessons. My golf clubs are Taylormade, Callaway, and Odyssey and top of the line, custom fitted. I practice alot and am playing way better and consistantly. My only down side is I'm pretty small and can only drive about 225-235 yards. I started lifting weights however so I should get stronger. I also am going to us the Momentus Power Hitter to build up my clubhead speed. I go to De La Salle High School in California. Their Varsity golf team won the state championship last year but I'm only trying for J.V. or Freshman.

Oh yeah, I've only been playing for 8 months.

I have a 3.92 GPA

I coach high school golf and it sounds like you have an excellent chance of playing. You are a good student and dedicated to improving your game. Granted, it sounds like your school has a good program, but I think you can make it happen. The skill that will be tested is making all those nice clubs work correctly under the pressure of competition. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it. And hey...if you don't make the team, there are plenty of junior programs and tournaments (USGA & PGA) throughout the golf season to keep you busy! Good luck.

well most High schools will let most kids play if ur good enough...but not nessiarly in tournaments and games (or whatever they're called). Lifting weights is a good idea...but my friend beat the Wisconsin state record last year and he's a twig...college...oh man...good luck...thats even more hard...my suggestion...have fun with it in HS and in college (join a rec. group that does it for fun not competition) and just enjoy the sport...its hard to go pro or even get into a college golf.....study and get good grades is the way to go...not sports.

your chances are pretty good. just improve it a bit more and you can be like my friend--he got scouted out by concordia university and has a full ride in college because he plays good golf. good luck!

Your chances are the same as the last 6 times you asked this question. Time to stop setting in from of the computer, asking the same question over and over, and getting out and playing.

it just happens that i am going to monte vista which is in danville......real close to you guys

so i guess ill be seein you out there

by the way..if you practice that much...you might not be helping your game but hurting it....i had to take a 1 month break because i practiced like you...i spend bout only 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day and make them useful. i used to go out for 5 hours and not improve

so good luck because monte vista is winning this year........trust me i would know..im gonna be playin varsity......

hey dude..try the Cleavland hi bore..it's awesome for distance.I'm 6'4" 270lbs i can hit it depending on wind 290-305yds every time..you will get bigger and stronger lifting weights.but you don't want to get to big you will lose your ability to swing properly and also wont be able to wind up right..also use pro v 1's they help distance to..good luck :)
