There is a lot you need to consider,,, first off how big is the place you are keeping this dog? If it is an apartment I would say no to a lab because they need lots of room to run, especially as a puppy. Labs love exercise but most dogs do... it all depends on you and your lifestyle. Of course avoid pitbulls. Breeds you could consider,,, lab, rotweiler, german sheppard, they are the most common. Just make sure you have room for the dog to run when you are not taking it out, otherwise it may start being destructive.

I should avoid that nasty white packet bread. Wholegrain or wholemeal bread is better for you and you will have higher energy levels for your running.
As for dog breeds, whatever you get will not be able to go on long runs until it is at least a year old and has been built up to it.
Why not try some of the rescue centres for adult dogs? A border collie would easily relish the mileage.Any of the gundogs would be fine, even a little cocker. Avoid short nosed breeds and anything too massive like st bernards. They aren't built for speed or endurance. Why does it have to be a breed? Why not a good old mongrel?

This depends...Will you only be taking him on walks 3 times a week? If you get a bigger dog like a lab, you will need to take him on walks everyday (20-30 mins) You don't want a toy dog because they will not be able to keep up on a 3-4 mile walk. you also need to consider do you want a watch dog or a quit dog? Do you want a long or short haired dog? There are many options to consider. :)

the only two I would recommend would be siberian huskies lovely temperment and need the exercise used to running, other good breed is a border collie the most intelligent breed around and also have a lot of energy.
Avoid st bernards, great danes boxers st danes bernard develop bone trouble later in age and boxers are not recommened as they are difficult to train. Labs are lovely breeds but I wouldnt go for long jogs with one would not be able to keep up as they get older.
A dog that uses that much energy would need a lot of food also recommend regular vet checks for the dogs bones structure long runs wont help it, any breed as they get older will find the jogging harder suggest you stop jogging with the dog by the time the dog is 6 yrs old.

What breed would be good?
Which dog should I avoid?
Lab would be okay? why? because it s top popular dog?
Dont pick that dog because it s number one popular dog.
My friends made mistake.
They do not realized before they buying a puppy. My friend purchased AKC pure Lab dog.. Few weeks later he took Lab back and got his money back. He s not happy because it dont fit his personality.
Do u minded to clean up large dog's wasted? Do u minded comb three times a week?
Do u want a dog who are agressive? friendly? small-size dog gives u small responsiblity
Large dog gives u big responsiblity.
I know Lab loves to run with u. There are other dogs love to run too.
Here the useful information links for u

Pick the dog to match your personality.
Avoid: Pit Bull. I dont cared if Pit Bull dogs are so loyal and loving-dog. They are crawling with time bomb, very little tick then u got to pay the fine or end up in jail or your family got in serious injury.
I have two kids and a wife. I won't risk it.

Labs are a great dogs for running! i would also suggest pointer, bloodhound, great dane, border collie etc. basically all big dogs are good but they might not be right for you. if you live in an apartment it would be a problem because they need almost constant exercise. i would avoid small dogs because they might not be able to run at your speed. i would also avoid rottweilers, pit bulls, and airedales. two dogs that i loved very much were killed by them. no offense to any one that has them. I'm sure they are very nice dogs but one does not easily forget the death of their dogs. again no offense, happy holidays and good luck!

It depends on how much time you have on the other days. Don't get a bigger dog like a labrador if you won't be able to keep it company in the day time as it will get depressed and ruin your house.
Best running dogs are going to be whippets or some other type of racing dogs. Blood hounds will also be able to keep up with you.
The thing to beware of is that if you get a big dog it will need time and attention. They are intelligent and get destructive if they don't get the time they need.
One other thing to say is that if you get a puppy you need to build up it's exercise in stages as it won't be able to handle that kind of distance at first or it's bones might be damaged

A lab would be great, they love to run and get excercise. I personally love Austrailian Shepherd's they are fun and a little more laid back but would love to go running with you. They become your best friend and are very loyal dogs.

a labrador would be fine. any sort of large breed or "working" breed would be good. Huskies and Japanese Akitas are also very good for long runs although they can get hot with all the fur but they do love it.
Avoid small breeds if you can or breeds with "squashed" faces such as boxers due to the air intake.
