During the Civil War only France backed the CSA. If they had waited until today how many countries would have backed the war? And where would the Mason-Dixon Line have been drawn?

Well, that is a tough question and techincally the Civil War was not about slavery Lincoln;s emancipation proclaimation freed no slave until after the war when slavery was finally ablioshed.

Now, that piece of paper kept Britian away from joining the CSA. As was its intent. I would save given the current hate towards the Bush Administration you might have quite a few jump on. I could see mexico trying to help(they would see it as a working deal)
I could see germany, france and most likely Japan. All these countries are our current allies yes. But, they would most likely jump on the wagon for past slanders by the federal govt.

of course all speculation.

None. The primary cause of the US Civil War was the South's inability/unwillingness to wean themselves from a society and an economy that was based on chattel slavery.

Well...the maybe the CSA would have been endorsed by North Korea and Sudan.

And the Mason-Dixon line was drawn long before the Civil War.

Possibly no country would have 'backed' the south. If the war was due to slavery, what country would want to be on record of supporting that type of culture?

The Mason-Dixon line was drawn decades before the Civil war. It was drawn to end a dispute between the land owners in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

I think you mean "secede"...and I would suspect other like-minded ignorant xenophobes would have been happy to back them.
