Disfunctional doesn't come close to describing my family. I'm getting married in a month and would like any advice on how to deal with my family's disfunctional behavior. There's no telling what kinda of drama they are going to create on that day and I'm already so stressed out about it I'm not talking to most of them. Help, I just want to have an average wedding day and avoid any embarassment from my side of the family.

Just be sure to have a strong commitment with your partner and you both agree on what would be your own style and YOU want for yourselves. Isolate them and be very strong about your expectations for that day, respecting you and your partner> Put some boundaries between them and you and make them respect; the walls are for you to keep them away.
In my opinion the two of you must be very prepared to this kind of problems and very strong to side each other.
Communication is always the best between partners and it's better knowing in advance what will happen in a situation of embarassment.

If your family is creating problems for you and stressing you to the point that you're not speaking to them, the only thing for you to do really is to sit down and explain to them how important this day is to you and that certain behavior (cite examples) will ruin the day for you. Truth be told they're probably not going to take the news well, no one wants to be told there behavior is wrong. But if you're stressed out to that level something has to be said or you're going to stress yourself out to the max before anything even happens. When it comes to the big day, remind yourself that it's YOUR day and any drama they create and any embarassing antics they perform, the backlash is on them. You enjoy yourself and have fun and revel in your wedding day.

good luck :)
