My cat really appreciates the effort I take to bring the outside in, just for him! The tree skirt always has a fine protective coating of white fur!

Yep. I have an artificial tree and this is the first Christmas with this kitty. I figured it would be laying in the floor when I came home from work the day after I put it up, but it was still standing. I did have to take the bottom branches off...everyday when I got home they were all pointing straight down as if she had tried to climb them and had run across the bottom....since I did that she doesn't appear to have bothered it anymore. But....as far as it being just for her....what isn't. She thinks she is the queen of the world!

Of course! Why else would you put a live tree in the house. Everything you have is there for your kittie. If you dont believe me, just ask the cat!

Other people suggest putting oranges near the tree or put an scent that they do not like such as things with an orange scent. Good luck. I am not looking forward to putting up our tree because we have 5 kittens that like scrambling up our legs let alone atree. The kittens are not ready to go to new homes yet.

Of course you brought it in just for the cat. I have an artificial tree, due to my allergies, but as soon as I drag the box in and start the set up, Ollie is there sitting under 'his' tree. He thinks that the beads are for chasing, and gets quite perterbed with me when I tell him "No!".

You mean you didn't get it just for him?!?! That is one big cat toy!!! You sound like my kind of person, your cat made a good choice in adopting you. If you want to keep him out of the tree you can always try using old fashioned pomanders (oranges with cloves stuck in them), or orange spray. Other than that you can do like me and tie it to the ceiling and use only unbreakable ornaments. But if he is like one of mine you may find that he is a thief and will steal & hide ornaments! Sounds like you are going to have a fun Christmas!

Oh my cat thinks anything you bring into the house is just for him, and espeically the Christmas tree. While he doesn't have claws, he sits under it, smells it and of course drinks the water.

You better believe it! And the ornaments will entertain him for hours. And look to come home to a tree knocked down on the floor at least once, but I vote at least twice, depending on how mischevious he/she really is.

Heck yeah! My two cats just LOVE "their" tree.... lol. Every year they watch us bring it in with these looks of sheer bliss on their little furry faces. (Especially since they don't get to go out as much this time of year).
