I always planned on going to college to become a veterinarian but now all of my options are coming forward and im not sure what to do. Should I go to college and if so what should I study? I love animals but I could never sit behind a desk all day. I love crazy and hectic jobs. I can't stand it when everything is quite and calm. I like photography so my friend suggested animal photography for a magazine. I'm good with people and with my love for hectic work situations my friend suggested something like hotel management. I don't care if I'm out in the weather and the elements so I was thinking about skipping college and trying to get a job on a farm or a ranch. I would kill for a job like researching endangered species or training animals. I'm not sure what I want to do, what do you guys think? College, Job, Both? What should I study? I would really appreciate some help with this.

There's a school in Pittsburgh that has a Vet Tech program. I ride the bus into town with a number of people that attend it. Not sure what it's all about, but my guess is that you'd help out a vet but wouldn't have to go through the rigorous training that a vet would have to go through. It sure sounds hectic to me!

I agree with the previous answer, college is way to expensive to just go to and try to figure out what you want. However, college does provide an excellent learning experience, and it is said that college graduates earn an average $30,000 more per year then those who go straight to the workforce.

If being a verterinarian is what you know is right, then you'll have to go to school. There are vocational schools that will train you to be a veteranarian's assistant, and this way you wouldn't actually have to go to college.

My best advice is to really think about what it is you want, maybe take a break from school for a year or so, but go to college.

take a look at the entry requirements for the different careers you are interested in. do they require a college degree? college is too expensive a place to try & find yourself in. take a year or two after graduation & try different things. you may find those in the field are willing to accept you w/o a degree or the opposite may prove true. in either case, i'd wait until i narrowed down my options before investing in a college education.

Keep in mind a position as a researcher or trainer would definitely entail additional schooling.

Both.

Start as a kennel worrker to gain experience. When you graduate, you will have your foot in the door, and landing a job will be much easier.

Go to college. It will sort of get you prepared for the "real world" take a bunch of different classes to see what is right for you.
