i do this alot and it just doesn't seem weird to me, i talk with my cat, with my self, with any object, in my head i hod a conversation, and i do this all mostly when i am alone.
i am deppressed and i think i have OCD, does this have anything to do with it? i'm getting worried now, i'm 16.
once my 10 year old brother came into my room when i was talking to my self in a weird way and didn't realise he was there, when i turned around he was staring at me in a strange way and then asked me "who are you talking with?"

Talking to yourself is just fine! It's just away of thinking. Sometimes when I'm upset or happy I talk to the mirror. :) Just be careful that you are talking to people too. AS far as OCD or depression....both are caused by an imbalence in your seratonin levels. Both can be treated with a seratonin re-uptake inhibitor. Your brother is 10... of course he's going to give you a hard time. To make you feel even better...think of kids. They are ALWAYS talking to themselves. They use dramatic play to learn about things and themselves and as a way of thinking. Big people do it to.

You've got some good answers here.
It's just thinking out loud.
There's no need to worry, but if you find yourself worrying, I recommend a visit to www.thework.com. You can download materials and do a worksheet and you can phone someone on the hotline there and talk through your worksheet until you get relief.

Can be a sign of madness or genius! If you're not talking out load you are talking in your head most of the time.
Be worried when a voice from within is talking to you.

There is nothing wrong with talking to yourself at all. Unless you really think you are talking to someone else and then you should see your doctor. Don't worry, it is completely normal, it is just thinking out loud

I talk to myself all the time, I have as far back as I remember. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. As long as you realize that there is no one else there and that you are talking to yourself, which you seem to realize. I don't think it is anything to worry about, but you could always talk to your parents, Dr.. or School Counselor about it.

I think you will probably grow out of this as your only 16. Maybe you should try to stop yourself from doing it if you think it is a problem but theres really no harm in it as i'm sure a lot of people talk to themselves (even if they wont admit it lol).......would only advise one thing;----look behind you in future in case someones standing there watching you :o))

I talked to myself from the age of 3 to the age of 31... now this year I've suddenly stopped, for no reason. I think it just helps us get our thoughts in order.

We all talk to ourselves. I do it out loud without realizing. Depression can make you think about suicidal thoughts, so it's compulsive to think about it, but it has nothing to do with OCD.

Don't worry! It's completely normal to "think out loud" or talk to yourself. I do it all the time.
