I lived in that area for 15 years. Be prepared for temperatures between 20 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit and winds 15 to 20 mph. Take boots/shoes that can handle between 4 and 6 inches of snow. If you get lucky, you may have better weather. But it's better to be ready for the worst.

It's possible. It's not the frozen north and snow is rare before January, January and February are the prime times for snow in and around DC. Check the weather forecast before you leave to be sure.

There's always the potential for snow in DC in January. Best bet is to check the 10-day forcast on accuweather.com before you pack.

Probably cold, but plenty of room for unusual weather. Check weather.com a couple of days before you depart. Also, the local TV stations have excellent web sites, with good weather information. Try nbc4.com, or myfoxdc.com, or wjla.com, or wusatv9.com, or wtopnews.com.

It will be cold, but you never know if it will snow. It has been warm here lately, so you never know. I would bring a winter coat, it will be cold at night no matter what.
